The Lady Titans and South Florida State College (SFSC) played a volleyball match on October 2nd. The game was extremely close all the way until the last set. The Lady Titans played a total of 4 matches in the game with SFSC but lost 3 to 1. Megan Tozur #7, a freshman from the Lady Titans, said, “The girls and I always give 100 % of our effort and time to be successful. We are like a family and very close friends. You have to be close when you spend as much time as we do together in rehearsal, games, and school.”
During the entire match, the Lady Titans had their eyes focused on the volleyball and SFSC. The Lady Titans are only freshman and sophomores, but they have a wonderful chance at becoming professional players. The Titans had a head lead on SFSC throughout the entire 1st game, which they won. #12 Nina Petranovic from Slovenia, a freshman this year who plays OH on the court, helped her teammates win the 1st game. Petranovic said, “I take every game very seriously and I do not let anything distract me while I am on the court playing.”
The 2nd game started off with a bang for the Lady Titans. The Lady Titans were in the lead for the first half with 17 to 10 SFSC. Then out of nowhere, the ladies from SFSC made a huge come back and won the 2nd part of the game. The score then was tied 1 to 1. Brittany Taskas #2 from the Titans said,”The game is close, but we still have a chance to make a comeback and win.”
The 3rd game was led by SFSC, but the Lady Titans gave them a run for their money. The game was tied until the very end, and then SFSC got 5 consecutive points and won. SFSC was very strong competition for the Lady Titans. The score was SFSC with 2 games and the Lady Titans with 1 game. #7 Megan Tozur said, “I am very excited about the game, and we still have a chance to make a comeback and win.”
Finally, game 4 was the last for the night. The Lady Titans still had a chance if they won game 4. The match then would have been tied 2 to 2, and the Lady Titans would have been able to play a 5th game to break the tie. Kayla Perry #8 played OH on the court and scored several points in a row during game 4. The game was close with the Lady Titans and SFSC, but SFSC won the 4th game for the night. The score was SFSC with 3 games, and the Lady Titans with 1 game. This was the Lady Titans’ 2nd loss at home, but they will stand strong. Coach White from the Lady Titans said, “I am very proud of my girls. They work very hard. Even though a few of the girls are from 5 different countries, they all understand each other and me.”
