On Saturday November 14th, the St. Petersburg College men’s basketball team experienced a victorious win over Pasco-Hernando State. The gymnasium quickly filled up with a large crowd that was full of energy and support for the SPC men’s basketball team. The game started out with Pasco-Hernando making the first basket but SPC quickly trumped their head start and immediately scored with help from Dondre Duffus, who made continuous baskets one after another. Pasco-Hernando tried to play catch up, but it was a lost cause with Duffus and Dexter Graham on the court. The crowd yelling for “defense” enveloped the stadium and the Titans delivered by constantly blocking Pasco-Hernando’s shots.
A little over an hour into the game and the score was 57-30 with SPC in the lead. Just before half time, Chase Ridenour made one more basket, bringing the score 60-30. SPC’s Dyllon Hudson, Shaq Speights, and Deon Patterson had undeniable chemistry on the court, keeping the ball between them. Pasco-Hernando did pick up the pace in the third period but with strong defense from SPC meant it was near impossible to have a winning chance. By the fourth period and less than five minutes in the game, SPC was monotonously scoring with more help from Hudson and teammates. SPC finished the evening by defeating Pasco-Hernando with a score of 100-71. “Hopefully we can continue that,” said Assistant Coach George Carbart when asked how he felt about the team playing so successfully tonight.
