Monday, March 7th was a nice night for an exciting baseball games against Polk State. The Titans played a tough game against the Eagles at Joe DiMaggio’s Sports Complex but they were defeated 10-2.
The Titans started off well when Kellen Brown recorded a base hit and stole 2nd base. But his efforts fell short and the Titans were not able to score. On the other hand, the Polk Eagles answered in the second inning and scored six runs. But the Titans didn’t give up and threatened with the bases loaded. They could not take advantage of their positioning and only scored one run in the bottom of the second.
Kevin King, # 4, pitched well for four and half inning and in the last inning, he threw a three up and three down right before Clayton Moran relieved him on the bottom of the fifth. Scott Manea, #23, threw an impressive pick off to end at the top of the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh, Jake Senich was the Eagles’ second relief. Polk State was leading then with a score of 7-2.
But the Eagles ended strong with # 4, Keith Oren hitting a double which caused Polk State to score another run and in the last inning, # 17 hit a triple and scored two more points for the Eagles. Polk State had a great game scoring a total of 10 points. There is still plenty of time in the season for the Titans to bounce back though in the next few games.
