On February 7th students gathered at St Petersburg College Gibbs Campus’ Gymnasium to watch the ladies basketball game against Broward College, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Lady Titans were victorious after a close basketball match against the Lady Seahawks. The final score of the game was 57-41. The announcer of the game was Justin Shay.
The Lady Titans dominated the game overall. During the first quarter of the game, the score was very tight. Both teams scored points relatively quickly and were tied several times throughout the game, but both teams made several fouls; during the first quarter, the Lady Titans and the Lady Seahawks made a total of 10 fouls each. At the end of the first quarter, the two players with the most points scored were K. Harris, who scored a total of 7 points for the Lady Titans, and B. Upshur, who scored a total of 22 points for the Lady Seahawks.
Amanda Mendoza, #3 for the Titans, was the star of the team. She made most of the passes to the other players so they could score and also made several points herself. Even though she was short in height compared to the other players, she jumped out because of her notorious abilities. Seahawks #11 also had an impressive performance throughout the game; she was an excellent defense player because of her height. She covered and stopped a lot of the points attempted by the Lady Titans.
The Lady Titans dominated the second (last) quarter of the game; the Seahawks were about 10 points behind most of the time, though the Seahawks never stopped trying to tie the game; they kept their positive attitude until the last seconds. The number of fouls during the second quarter was 9 by the Lady Titans and 6 by the Lady Seahawks. The last point scored was made by #10 of the Seahawks, who left the score 57-41 favoring St. Petersburg College.
