Celebrate Women who Served Our Country, Jan 31

On January 31st, Veterans Services will hold an event to celebrate, honor and inspire our female students who have served. Any and all female SPC student veterans, active duty, reserve or dependent/spouse are welcome.  All the resources available from the Veterans Administration, Gibbs college support/ resource staff and community resources will be there, so female veterans can receive the most up-to-date information on all the resources open to them, from claims to childcare.

The key note speaker, Carol Barkalow, will address the audience about having “ A passion for leadership.” She is a retired LTC in the US Army, a motivational speaker, and was one of the first women to graduate from West Point. Her book detailing her experience, In the Men’s House, was released in 1990.

The event will run from 1200 to 1700  in the Music Center at the Gibbs campus.  Finger food at lunch and tea with cookies will be served in the afternoon.

In addition there will music played by a female jazz band provided by the MIRA program.
