Robot Project for the Innovative Engineering Club
Uncategorized November 19, 2013The Innovative Engineering Club (IEC) has started building a robot for NASA-WPI 2014 Robot Prize Competition. This competition is put on by NASA to find technological solutions for America’s space program. This event is going to take place in June of 2014 at WPI. Industry and academic teams from across the nation will compete to demonstrate a robot that can locate and retrieve geologic samples from wide and varied terrains without human controls. Teams that meet all competition requirements will be eligible to compete for the NASA-funded $1.5 million prize.
The IEC has just started building their robot, and only has a portion of the arm complete so far. Hopefully during the spring semester the robot will be completed and registered to compete for that amazing prize. If you would like to help with this project, or if you have other projects you want to recommend to the club, you can go to their weekly meetings and sign up for the IEC. They meet on Tuesdays from 12:30 – 1:30 at SC 212 on the Saint Petersburg Gibbs Campus.
