At the beginning of the 2013 – 2014 academic year, SPC Seminole Campus welcomed a new Christian club called the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, which meets every Wednesday morning at 11 AM  in  UP 102.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is a group of non-denominational Christian students dedicated to Bible study and reaching out to the student body of St. Petersburg College. These meetings can enrich and have a very spiritual impact on each student’s life.

The club offers a weekly Bible study, led by co–President Hugh Adcock. The group then breaks into smaller groups of threes and fours  to discuss what was read, then comes back together to discuss the day’s reading and how it relates  to members’ lives. In addition to weekly Bible study, the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship also hosts off-campus events.

All SPC students, as well as students from other colleges, are invited to the club’s off-campus  events throughout the Tampa Bay area. Common Ground is a monthly gathering which meets the first Friday of every month at Faith Covenant Church in St. Petersburg at 6: 30 PM. This is an event for all  members of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in Pinellas County for a time of worship, Bible study, and fun. This is a free event. The club also has three themed seminars annually. “Sonburst,” held every autumn in Orlando, brings Christian students throughout the state of Florida together every year and challenges students to go out and make a difference for Christ in their world while growing spiritually in their own life. “Jesus Encounter” is held in February at the Underground Network Church in Tampa. This event is designed to bring students to have a closer walk with Jesus, while teaching students how to live for Christ and then share that experience with others. “Focal Week” is the final seminar held at the end of every school year and is also held at the Underground Network Church for all Bay Area college students. This seminar is designed to take one week to focus on ourselves and what can we do to make ourselves a better person. The  InterVarsity Christian Fellowship also has special projects, such as spring break and summer mission trips. This year, students will be going to Miami during Spring Break and to Manila in the Philippines during the summer.

The InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is  looking for leaders to help and disciple students and to help others grow in the Christian faith. Once a month, we have leadership meetings and training programs at various times (TBA) The InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is also looking for volunteers to help out in the mission of taking the gospel message to the student body on campus.

Are you a student that is seeking God’s direction in your life? Are you wanting to join a club of Bible-believing students? As a student, do you want to try to build your faith up? Would you like to make a difference on the SPC Campus? Then we have the club that is right for you. The InterVarsity Christian Club is constantly looking for new members. Join us at our next meeting on Wednesday at 11 AM in UP 102. For further information, contact club faculty advisor Kimberly Huff.
