
Seminole Gives Warm Welcome Back on Cold Days
SPC Programs & Events January 26, 2016St. Petersburg College Seminole campus welcomes back students with music, contests, and a free box lunch during a freezing second week of classes on January 19th, and 20th.
The Welcome Back celebration provides an opportunity for students to get to know clubs, student organizations and service providers on campus in fall and spring terms. Upon signing in with their ID, students received a goody bag, a ticket for a free boxed lunch, and were entered into a raffle for gift cards from Fandango, Chick-Fil-A, and Target courtesy of the campus Student Government Association. This year’s Welcome Back brought new faces and old favorites to club row.
The Engineering club is one of the new additions to club row at this year’s Welcome Back. The club has plans to partner with the Seminole campus Innovation Lab to build a drone and other cool tech projects this term. The Engineering club meets on Tuesdays, 12:30 to 1:30 PM in PW 704. The Intervarsity Christian Fellowship was on hand to tell students about their new home, and meeting schedule. The club meets in the gazebo behind the UP building on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 – 1:30. Other clubs at this year’s Welcome Back included the Fishing club, Gay Lesbian or Whatever (G.L.O.W.) club, Men Achieving Excellence (MAX), Women on the Way (WoW), as well as the International, and Spanish clubs. The CEO Entrepreneurship club was on hand to promote their upcoming business plan and elevator pitch competition, which will be held in the campus Digitorium at 6 PM on April 21st. Members of the Seminole community were also on hand to introduce themselves to students.

The City of Seminole Recreation Center was on hand to tell students about the many programs they offer, and to talk about summer jobs and volunteer opportunities. Baycare was on hand to let students know about the Student Assistance Counseling program, which provides three free counseling sessions per academic year and provides services to students without insurance at reduced cost.
