Invictus Games 2016 (part 2)

014The Invictus Games are a variety of Paralympic Sports designed for wounded and injured service men and women. This year games included Sitting Volleyball, wheelchair basketball, powerlifting, cycling, running, swimming, tennis, and archery competitions. 500 competitors from 15 different nations took part in the games, with the United Kingdom and America competing in the finals for both Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball.

There were three rounds of the Sitting Volleyball. In the first round of semi-finals it was the United Kingdom vs. Georgia, 25-15 for the UK. Georgia then tied the UK in the second match with a score of 25-23, but it was the UK that took the third and final match of the first round of semi-finals with a score of 15-8. Competing in the second round of semi-finals for Sitting Volleyball, America knocked out the Netherlands in two matches; first by a score of 25-10, next by a score of 25-17. In the finals, America won the first match and UK won the second match; however, America did beat the UK in the third match, winning the gold medal for Sitting Volleyball with a final score of 15-8.

273For the five rounds of Wheelchair Basketball, America surpassed the United Kingdom 48-16. In the semi-finals, America beat the Netherlands by a powerful score of 42-9 and victoriously gained 160 winning points for the wheelchair basketball sporting competition. During halftime America dominated the way with a score of 25-9, with the United Kingdom not scoring at all until 9 minutes and 56 seconds into the 15 minute second half. The final game ending score was 40-11, for the United States. America held their biggest title at the Invictus Games in Wheelchair Basketball, with leads as high as 33 points.
