Now Try Delicious Sandpiper Bites on Weekend Nights
(Dunedin, Florida) Sandpiper Café and Gifts, serving their community: Coffee, breakfast, adult beverages, and now dinner and dessert!
After opening a couple of years ago, David A. Ufer, the Owner of Sandpiper Café and Gifts, decided in August of 2016, to expand from front porch and indoor-homie breakfast eating, to quaint outdoor patio dining. Now there are a dozen more seats and tables, including a bar area.
This business wanted to expand their Friday and Saturday hours, for the town’s late-night locals and visitors from across the world. After all, Dunedin is the home of Honeymoon Island; this is a widely known tourist destination for world travelers, visiting the Gulf of Mexico.
Hours of operation: Sunday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday, until 10:00 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your pups, because Sandpiper also has water bowls outside, for your furry best friend!
Business owner, Ufer, opened his coffee shop with desire to share his love for roasting quality arabica beans, with the locals.
Like any other passion fulfilled, the owner of Sandpiper states, “Brewing coffee is a refreshing process.” David explains, “Every roast creates a smooth movement of natural flow”. A lifestyle, in stark contrast to the “tiring corporate world,” that he came from after thirty years, of hard work.
Ufer was quick, in grabbing hold of the opportunity that arose for him to purchase the hot local, downtown spot. Remembering his inspiration: He began drinking coffee as a teenager, when “it was still considered an “after-dinner drink,” to accompany his scrumptious desserts.
The owner challenged his chef to incorporate his freshly brewed coffee, into a recipe for their new dinner menu; Voila! The café burger was born, using a brown sugar “piper coffee” rub, and a cocoa chipotle spread.
This is served on a brioche bun, but no worries, Sandpiper offers gluten-free options (P.S. the chef’s specialty is Asian cuisine, so you can ever find some Lo Mein and healthy rainbow fried rice). This business always uses fresh fruit and vegetables, so even if you don’t order some of their cinnamon rolls of muffins, from the morning menu, you are still in for a refreshing, delightful, pick-me-up to begin your day.
Don’t fret, if you think that is all you can get, because not only do they have coffee, cake, but they offer meals you can take. They offer fresh soups, hummus, and snacks, for the people on a quick walk, so good, it will stop them in the middle of their tracks. Whether you’re just passing through town, walking your dog, looking for a peaceful place to work, bring your kids for a treat, or gather with friends, it’d be a great choice to stop by for your coffee wake-up, at the Sandpiper café.
Although, “Coffee is the bloodline of the business,” states Ufer, he knows the Sandpiper will thrive even quicker, with delicious dinner delights!
