Guillen gives Miami Marlins an error

Things are getting off to a rocky start for the Miami Marlins this new season, not just for the ball players, but the baseball club also. Coach Ozzie Guillen returned back to baseball last Tuesday the 17th, after a little incident that happened the week before where his comments on Fidel Castro fired up Cuban Americans everywhere in Miami.

Guillen, coach of the new Miami Marlins, made foolish remarks about appreciating Fidel Castro, which is out of the question in Southern Florida. Being in Miami, where a lot of Cubans come to live because of the dictatorship in Cuba, the comments did not sit well with the Cuban Americans and Spanish people everywhere.

With a new coach, stadium and roster, the franchise was hoping to make a more positive impact on the community; this was not the start they wanted. Guillen, suspended 5 games, was interviewed and remained apologetic to the public for the dizzying statements and also mentioned, “I don’t expect everybody to be 100 percent on board with me.”

Miami is full of diverse people and the baseball community was eager for the new Miami Marlins to start fresh again. The Marlins may be a fairly new team to the MLB, being established in the early 90’s; however, they have already won 2 World Series titles in 1997 and in 2003. Being such a young franchise compared to the rest of the league, there are all new kinds of hope for the lineup. With the confessions out of the way, maybe the Miami Marlins can come back strong from this and head in the right direction by winning games and staying out of trouble, especially for hot-headed Guillen.
