Comedian JB Smoove Coming to The Palladium

Arts & Entertainment

St. Petersburg, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2015) – From the hit movies Pootie Tang and Mr. Deeds to his breakout role on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, JB Smoove is one of comedy’s brightest stars. The New York comedian, actor and award-winning writer brings his distinctive brand of standup to The Palladium Theater Saturday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m., part of our “Mahaffey on the Move” series.

After a season as a cast member on the sketch comedy program Cedric the Entertainer Presents, Smoove landed a writing position on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. He later was a recipient of the 2007 Writers Guild award for “Best Comedy/Variety Series” for his work on the show.

Between 2007 and 2011, Smoove played Leon Black, Larry David’s unlikely house guest, scheming partner and sometime antagonist, on the HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Recently, he was seen as host of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, the Comedy Central standup series Russell Simmons Presents: The Ruckus, and shot his own one-hour stand-up special, JB Smoove: That’s How I Dooz It for Comedy Central.

His other film appearances include Date Night, Hall Pass, The Sitter, The Dictator, We Bought a Zoo and Chris Rock’s Top Five.
