Poetry: The Works of Diego Olguin
Out of the Sandbox December 23, 2015Two poems from Diego Olguin’s collection.
Poem 6: Sun & Moon
You bring warmth and action, I bring delay
You have others that circle around you
I simply circle those others…
I lie in darkness because I have no light of my own
You illuminate everything and
I need you to shine
You, however do not need me
I am among many, you are the only one
I am somehow the biggest and brightest when you shine upon me
Why?
You leave and take your precious light, but
I remain,
I do not ignore…
I keep watch after you leave
We seem to rule the heavens
One in day, one in night
But
I am nothing but a piece of floating rock… and
You are the center… and a star…
For I am the moon, I have no light of my own
You rise and I fall
I rise and you fall
At opposite ends we cannot be together
They thank me for my light
But this light, It is not my own
It is what you have given me
What you left on me
What reflects upon others is you…
For you are the sun…
Poem 3: The Awakened Mind
Incredibly focused on what is known
The world may be spinning, but it is still
Not enough focus on what is unknown
There are flourishing, hollow minds to fill
Hollow mind, I demand you please ignite!
Erase this wretched ignorant blankness!
Fill me with knowledge and show me the light!
Take me away from this draining darkness!
Please bring back that long forgotten feeling
The sensation so imaginable
Which brought so much purpose to my being
Making all of existence tangible
Oh, how there is still so much to learn
And without doing so, all we do is burn…
