Poetry: The Girl
Out of the Sandbox February 21, 2016 , by Sandbox StaffBy: Ashleigh Voshol
I am strong
I tell myself this everyday
To remind myself not to become who I was
I try to forget my past
But it somehow always comes back to haunt me
I don’t want to be known as the girl that got beat
Or the girl with an eating disorder
I want to be me
All of me
I don’t want to be known as the girl that tried to overdose
Or the girl that got raped at a party
I don’t want the past to define who I am
I don’t want to be scared anymore
I want to be happy
