Poetry: Largo Central Park

Out of the Sandbox

By Diana Perez

As I walk through these paths,

just me all alone

I know there were others,

who came here to roam.

I can barely hear the children’s laughter,

what a great sound,

they were having fun

as they are running around.

I just crossed the tracks,

better move, the train is coming now.

It’s tooting its horn, there is laughter and giggles.

The trees are all dancing

The flowers sway and they wiggle

bobbing their heads

They are all beautiful laying in their flower beds.

As I keep walking I hear a light moan

It’s a widow at the wall, wishing her solider came home.

Each place is groomed and handled with care

From all the people that volunteer there.

The sun is about to set

The train about to stop

The people are heading home

The park is getting dark.

It’s just another day at the wonderful

Largo Central Park.
