LIVE Dance Concerts at SPC

Uncategorized

Clearwater-The CoMotion dance program will be putting on its semi-annual dance concerts November 17th through the 19th beginning at 8pm. Any students who enjoy a variety of dance styles are sure to be entertained!  All those who are interested are welcome to attend this dance celebration at the Clearwater Arts Auditorium on the SPC Clearwater campus. Performances are available to the public for $5 and free for SPC students and faculty with proof of ID.

The audience can expect a variety of dance styles to meet every taste at the concert. Nancy Smith, Co-Director of the program says, “Six different choreographers create the theme and inspiration of the show, each with separate styles ranging from Jazz, modern, to ballet. A variety of music will be used as well which varies from classical, contemporary, jazz, and modern.”

The CoMotion dance theater is the resident dance company at SPC that offers a wide variety of dance classes from beginning to advance. Nancy Smith and Cynthia Hennessy, directors, teachers’, and choreographers’, have been a part of the CoMotion Dance Program since it began in 1985.

Rehearsals for the Fall CoMotion Dance Concerts began on the first week of September 2011.  Although auditions were open, it was recommended for students to be in a dance class.

According to Nancy Smith, “the best part of teaching dance is watching dancers grow and develop throughout the process.”
