Poetry: The Puppet Politician
Out of the Sandbox January 17, 2019 , by Sandbox StaffBy Allyson Ashekun
Dangling by a few strings,
The puppet begins his show.
Money is his puppeteer,
This, the audience does not know.
With an appeal to pathos,
His credibility is achieved.
He’s persuaded the audience again,
While hiding the strings attached to his sleeves.
The audience has failed to realize,
The puppet is not in command.
For it is the puppeteer behind the scenes,
Who moves the puppet’s hands.
You must be careful when you watch his show,
Keep a close on his strings.
Follow them up past the red curtains,
You’ll see money is the puppeteer of all things.
