Poetry: Exploring the Florida Botanical Gardens
Out of the Sandbox June 20, 2015 , by Sandbox StaffBy Meriem Ziad
(In Largo you can find 30 acres of beautiful fauna and flora at the Florida Botanical Gardens—a great place to spend the day walking and relaxing under the shade with a good book and a picnic basket)
Wild flowers bloom
As exotic plants sway in the breeze;
The sun—beating down like hands on a drum—
Illuminating the endless beauty;
The expanse of nature effortlessly
Captivating the senses,
Immersing oneself in wildlife;
The pond is serene
Essential to the garden’s life,
The life of the still and the moving—
The squirrels and the flowers,
The trees and the birds,
Endless interactions with each other;
A circle of survival and living
A beautiful connection to Earth;
Peaceful and quiet
As melodic birds fly by;
The perfect way to spend the day
When the hustle and bustle of life
Becomes too much
And you need to get away.
