Attend Free Events With Tarpon’s Environmental Club!

SPC Programs & Events

The environmental club at the SPC Tarpon campus has a full schedule of activities lined up for the year. Join and you’ll never be bored. You’ll learn a lot and help the environment and our community, too! Here is a list of future activities the club has lined up. They are open to SPC students, so feel free to walk in and take part:

  • Club Meetings/Nature Walks
    • Location: Tarpon Campus BB 209 at 12:30
    • Dates: Sept. 9, Sept. 16, Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Oct. 21, Nov. 19, Dec. 2
  • Kayaking
    • Location: Coopers Bayou Park
    • Dates: Sept. 11.
    • RSVP with advisor Kelli Stickrath (kayaks are limited)!
  • Causeway Clean-up
    • Location: Courtney Campbell Causeway
    • Date: Nov. 20

  • Seminars: Listen to guest speakers talk about important issues and engage in discussion.
    • Location: Tarpon Campus BB 209 at 12:30
    • Sept. 16 – Bike Transportation & Safety. Guest speaker Prof. Bill Hemme.
  • Seminars: Listen to guest speakers talk about important issues and engage in discussion.
    • Location: Tarpon Campus BB 209 at 11am
    • Sept 14 – Honey Bee Seminar
    • Sept. 30 – The Threats of GMO’s & Solutions by Niki Barber
    • Oct. 14 – Birds of Prey (with live birds!). Guest speaker Barb Walker.
    • Nov. 30 – There Is No Such Place As Away – “Where Does Your Trash Go? Why is Recycling Important?” Guest Speaker: Jan Tracy (Pinellas County Dept of Environment & Infrastructure)
  • Film Series: Sustainability Connections – Exploring Food Systems Through Film. Light refreshments will be served. (free admission / register below to attend)
